Exploring Shimla the Guideless way

Shimla located right in the heart of Himachal Pradesh a state seated in the vast hills of the Himalayas in North India. Shimla, in this case, happens to be the largest city and the capital of the state and is considered one of the most visited spots in the north of India. This being my very first blog post I wanted to simply write about my personal experiences from how I traveled to how I explored and got to soak in the real essence of the place. Another fun fact about me in this entire situation is that am an International student studying in India and when I took this trip there was nothing fancy about the way I traveled it was very simple from using public transportation to travel from my current state of Punjab all the way to Shimla and also using  public transportation within Shimla, In addition, I really do not speak the native language of Hindi very well but was still able to navigate the place to the best of my abilities. This blog post hence to show that the simple delicacy of exploring Shimla can be done without a guide and cost-effectively.

Enroute Shimla ( Getting there)

My trip from Chandigarh took approximately 4 hours to get to Shimla( not including stops) and I tell you will definitely know you have crossed state lines when you see the beautiful hills am telling you that you will need to get that window seat you will be glued to it.

The scenery is definitely one of the most eye-catching you will ever see especially if you are accustomed to flat land like me and its a very normal routine o see cars and buses parked at the side of the road and the travelers standing and posing about  by the edges willing to take  the best photos

Another disclaimer I would like to put across is the fact that your head will definitely be spinning because you will be climbing up the altitude on hills so it's round and round the roller coaster you go , so try not to eat too many snacks because you might feel a little motion sickness or even get sick.

Places to Visit
Most of the places to visit or explore around the city are centralized along the famed Mall road It is a pedestrian-only walkway filled with so many shops, restaurants, sites, and scenes. It includes the ridge which includes the walkway, the many statues, the Scandal Point and the famed Christ Church and many more. Many places I visited did not require any guide and did not require any money to enjoy.

THE RIDGE  (The Mall)
It is located right at the heart of the Mall road and it has many stores, restaurants and food stands that are aligned by the walkway. Its a place where you can eat, shop and take a nice walk and also so many hotels are located right there so you can enjoy the access to the ridge.

The Ridge also includes the Christ Church a beautiful architectural marvel, It is one of the most visited if not the most visited place in Shimla, the best time to visit is probably the night time because the church lights up and it is really beautiful.

ARMY MEMORIAL STATUE
Another place that exists near mall road but usually ignored is the memorial statue because its right at the end of the mall road it is a tribute to the many soldiers fallen to protect the county. The glistening statue stands with the hills in the horizon and its a nice photo spot.

OTHER PHOTOGRAPHIC SPOTS AROUND SHIMLA.

In this modern era, we all know how important it is to find that perfect spot that will make the perfect backdrop and Shimla has all of that wrapped up in one, literally everywhere you stand you will find something that looks amazing. My next couple of photos will show you what exactly I mean by an amazing backdrop.

THE  VIEWS
One thing that all travelers can agree on is that the view has to be amazing and guess what it's free too. The views in Shimla are amazing this is not just from the scenery but the architecture of the houses that have been made to suit and seat on the hills perfectly. It's just so mesmerizing to see how these houses have been set up

PERFECT SHIMLA WEATHER

Shimla is one of the only places in India that receives snow and coming from a country that experiences snow and that is why almost everyone visits it in order to experience it. Snow usually falls during the period of late December to early February so if you want to experience it that is the perfect time to travel. However, honestly speaking the snow is not as glamorous for people like me who are used to warmer weather so you would want to bundle up as much as possible. Shimla is still beautiful all year round and you can still travel whenever the weather suits you best.

Well, we have come to the end of my very first post and am nervously publishing it hoping that I have managed to inspire anyone that sees this that if they can Shimla is definitely to be visited whether on a budget or just trying to see it from the streets its still a place to be explored. They are so many more places within Shimla to be visited and if they are any other places that I have missed out please drop a comment in the comment section and help someone out.
